Fable #592

previous | next

A Bear roaming the woods in search of berries happened on a fallen tree in which a swarm of Bees had stored their honey. The Sheep were easily fooled. They recognized the song the Wolf sings before a feast, and in a moment they were racing back to the pasture. I made him promise not to hurt us, said the Fox. The Frogs hid themselves among the reeds and grasses, thinking the new king to be some fearful giant. They then went to bed in a cozy nest in the hedgerow and slept in quiet and comfort until morning. I'm a butcher by trade, not a doctor.

Be content with your lot.
