I, unfortunately, will not be developing for android
For a long while, many of my games had been developed with Android in mind. However, it is no longer fessible long term for me to developer for the platform. These reason include but are not limited to:
- Google rolling out ID requirements to developer for their platform. This is part of a worrying trend of "liberal" democracies trying to de-anonymize the internet.
- General exhaustion at designing for Mobile platforms. This heavily restricts what games I can even make. On-screen controls present endless design struggles for the legibility of games.
- I've been using LÖVE more often, which lacks the seemless packaging of Godot. Godot makes exporting to Android a simple click of a button once I have everything in place. I can reliably use this for dozens of games. However, I've been exploring/returning smaller tools that don't have this fine-tuned export process.
- I'm tire of dealing with Google's broken platform. The Android SDK was design as a MVP to attract mid to large Java shops. The tool chains is a nausiating mess.
- I fucking hate Google.
- I have to put in all this work, tolerate an abusive corporation, bow to their new ID requirements, deal with all the headaches of mobile design, for no reward. I'd like to be paid for this work. But thanks to Conservative ant-LGBT, anti-sex-work, anti-pornography orgs have made much of my art impossible to fucking monetize.
So, I give up. I'm done putting up with fucking Android. I can't deal with it any more.
