Fable #392

A Wolf had been feasting too greedily, and a bone had stuck crosswise in his throat. By this time the poor birds' heads were in a whirl. But he had to leave his beautiful bushy tail behind him. Wise Judge Hornet quickly understood why they did so: They knew they could not build a honey comb and fill it with honey. He looked the Toad over very carefully. Mr. Toad, he said, I've been told that you cure anything! The Miller felt a bit vexed, but to be agreeable he told the Boy to climb up behind him. They had no sooner started out again than a loud shout went up from another company of people on the road. Becoming thirsty on the way, he filled his horn at a spring, and was about to drink. Was he as big as this? This had the effect the Farmer wanted, for from that day the Cranes visited his field no more.

Do not give up friends for foes.
