Fable #217

A little Mole once said to his Mother: Why, Mother, you said I was blind! But I am sure I can see! The Lion now recovered his good humor entirely. Now there were several Woodmen in the village who believed that they could easily win the same good fortune. The greedy Monkey followed the Fox to the trap. So with much rustling of feathers and a fierce air, he came down swiftly on the back of a large Ram. He decided to take a stroll to the meadow not far inland. Approaching the Ass, he said with a laugh: If you had kept your mouth shut you might have frightened me, too. So the Fox, who had consented to act as judge, marked the distance and started the runners off. When you are up there it is the roof that's talking, not you.

Greatness has its penalties.
