Fable #201

A Fox and a Leopard, resting lazily after a generous dinner, amused themselves by disputing about their good looks. Have you heard the wonderful news? cried the Fox in a very joyful and excited manner. Their wings stuck together. and looking around, saw a mob of people armed with clubs coming down the road. When we hear the bell ringing we will know immediately that our enemy is coming. If this wheat is not harvested at once, said the Farmer, we shall lose half the crop. How now!, cried Jupiter Are you not yet content? But the party ended dismally with all the birds entangled in the meshes of the Farmer's net. They hurried out into the woods, one here, one there, and hiding their axes in the bushes, pretended they had lost them. We are drawing all the weight, not you, and we are keeping still about it besides.

The unjust will not listen to the reasoning of the innocent.
