Fable #69

previous | next

A pair of Oxen were drawing a heavily loaded wagon along a miry country road. The Wheels of the wagon were of a different sort. He had to squeeze himself a good deal to get through the narrow opening between the strips of the basket. On the way they passed a pond where a family of Frogs was sitting among the reeds on the bank. The Dog could creep inside and the Cock would fly up on one of the branches. The Man in the tree climbed down. As for you, you can use your legs so well that I should have little chance of collecting the debt if I had to catch you for it!

A fool may deceive by his dress and appearance, but his words will soon show what he really is.
