Dear friends of Joy

    I have just come back from a long well deserved holiday (six months,

although I really deserved 10 years). I had managed to join the concatenative

group in early May, and the contributions have been collecting at a rate

too fast for me to read properly in the occasional half hour that I have

spent in my office. However, I have been able to gain  superficial impres-

sions, and I want to congratulate you all. The level of discussion has

been very excellent, and the tone invariably friendly and cooperative.

I now look forward to reading the 402 contributions (in two months), and

reply to some of them. Many of the replies written by some of you have

been better than I could have done, and in that case I'll not add anything.

But it will take time, you will have to be patient.
