Fable #824

previous | next

A Wolf had been hurt in a fight with a Bear. It was nobody but the Barnyard Cock and the first one the little Mouse had ever seen. But when he turned his head and saw who had spoken, he walked quietly on. A Fox, who ran with the rest, stopped short as soon as he heard the voice. If you can cure yourself of that blotchy skin and that rheumatic gait, someone might believe you. They could not pull their feet out of the sticky mass. But if you are divided among yourselves, you will be no stronger than a single stick in that bundle.

Everything is fair in love.
