A Wolf had been feasting too greedily, and a bone had stuck crosswise in his throat. Now the Mice kept more strictly at home than ever. But the Fox had so many plans for escape he could not decide which one to try first. As he crossed a narrow footbridge, he happened to look down and saw himself reflected in the quiet water as if in a mirror. they said laughing, what do you call it, father? But the greedy Dog thought he saw a real Dog carrying a bone much bigger than his own. But he did not bring any stones with him. No, no! exclaimed the Fox, do not disturb them! The Stork begged the Farmer to spare him. We are drawing all the weight, not you, and we are keeping still about it besides.

Learn from my fate not to take pity on a scoundrel.
