Fable #716

previous | next

A pack of Wolves lurked near the Sheep pasture. Look at me, and you will soon forget that clumsy Elephant! he cried. So he began to edge toward the Dog, while the Dog backed away. Though the Miller was not tired, he made the boy get down and climbed up himself to ride, just to please the Merchants. The Kid knew there was little hope for him. The Hare was soon far out of sight, and to make the Tortoise feel very deeply how ridiculous it was for him to try a race with a Hare, he lay down beside the course to take a nap until the Tortoise should catch up. However small you may be, you are better than nothing at all.

Industry is itself a treasure.
