A young Mouse in search of adventure was running along the bank of a pond where lived a Frog. So she laid aside all hard words and spoke very kindly to him. He could see his stall at the foot of the mountain, and to him the quickest way down seemed to be over the edge of the nearest cliff. Now he sat down and looked at the grapes in disgust. asked the Kite. The Lion was much amused to think that a Mouse could ever help him. I want to get married, replied the Eagle, and I can't find a mate who can provide for me as I should like. Just then the Cat let go his hold, and before the Mice recovered from their surprise, he had made an end of three or four. We know how you would treat us later on, if some strangers should come as we did.

It is unwise to treat old friends badly for the sake of new ones.
