A young Mouse in search of adventure was running along the bank of a pond where lived a Frog. The argument grew very pointed, and it looked as if the affair could not be settled without a battle, when at last, with much good sense, they agreed to let a judge decide the matter. In despair the Mice called a council, and there it was decided that the Mouse army was always beaten because it had no leaders. The Eagle was constantly pouncing on the Hare, and the Owl dined daily on Mice. And while the Wolf was getting very slowly and painfully to his feet, the Ass galloped away in safety. I cannot tell you how glad I am to see you here. Then we shall soon see to whom the honey really belongs. With that he let go, and the foolish Ass tumbled head over heels down the mountain side.
