Fable #652

previous | next

One day as the Lion walked proudly down a forest aisle, and the animals respectfully made way for him, an Ass brayed a scornful remark as he passed. I am so strong I can carry away an Ostrich in my talons as if it were a feather! An old Frog living in the marsh, trembled as he watched the fierce battle. The Eagle could not reach the Serpent, neither with beak nor claws. The Fisherman was about to put it in his basket when the little Fish said: Please spare me, Mr. Fisherman! But I am not a Mouse! cried the Bat. He soon roused the whole hen yard, and when the Farmer came running out, that was the end of Mr. Fox.

The least of our enemies is often the most to be feared.
