Fable #422

previous | next

A Dove saw an Ant fall into a brook. Then, it is said, Hercules really did appear, saying: Put your shoulder to the wheel, man, and urge on your horses. The Wolf had such a beautiful vision of his coming happiness that he almost wept. Serves me right, growled the Wolf as he crept into the bushes. So off he crawled to the meadow. But one cold winter evening, as they were walking homeward, the Satyr saw the Man blow on his fingers. But please do not tell anybody about it. The Stork gladly accepted the invitation and arrived in good time and with a very good appetite. He will certainly make out that my ears are horns, no matter what I say.

It all depends on the point of view, and who tells the story.
