Fable #301

previous | next

A very young Mouse, who had never seen anything of the world, almost came to grief the very first time he ventured out. In fact he could cure anything. If we should happen to meet anything hard I will step between and save you. All took to their heels the moment they saw him. Their pride would not permit either to stand aside for the other. I will reward you very handsomely, said the Wolf, if you pull that bone out for me. The Wasps protested loudly. So said, so done, and both slept very comfortably. And when the Fox lost his temper, the Stork said calmly: Do not play tricks on your neighbors unless you can stand the same treatment yourself.

Take care of the little things and the big things will take care of themselves.
