The North Wind and the Sun had a quarrel about which of them was the stronger. One day the Dog wandered down to the seashore, There he spied an Oyster. So they sent a petition to Jupiter asking for a king. As he looked at me he waved his fine long tail and smiled. I saw you kiss Miss Geranium, and you fluttered around Miss Mignonette until Honey Bee chased you away. After the meal the friends had a long talk, or rather the Town Mouse talked about her life in the city while the Country Mouse listened. Said the Swallow: Just look at my bright and downy feathers. Then after sundown, when the rosy light fades from the sky and the shadows rise slowly through the wood, out she comes ruffling and blinking from the old hollow tree. The Mouse knew the voice and quickly found the Lion struggling in the net. The two soon came to blows, and while they were fighting, the Ass took to its heels.
