Fable #251

The North Wind and the Sun had a quarrel about which of them was the stronger. As they pulled him out of the mud, one of them said: You pretend to read the future in the stars, and yet you fail to see what is at your feet! Soon a little Lamb was following him about and was quickly led away to slaughter. Take me, said the Kite; I am very strong, stronger even than you! The two fought furiously for the prize until they had received so many wounds that both sank down unable to continue the battle. Buy! screamed the Miser angrily. Then he picked up a stone and threw it, breaking the Goat's horn. Proudly she presented her baby among the other contestants. With his head full of this foolish idea, he became so puffed up with pride and vanity that he halted and started to bray loudly. And when the Fox lost his temper, the Stork said calmly: Do not play tricks on your neighbors unless you can stand the same treatment yourself.

A knave's hypocrisy is easily seen through.
