Fable #180

previous | next

A poor Fisherman, who lived on the fish he caught, had bad luck one day and caught nothing but a very small fry. At first the Cranes flew away in great terror. And so far was he from carrying away the Ram, that the Ram hardly noticed he was there. You should always walk straight forward with your toes turned out. No indeed, said the Heron. Then we can decide in all justice who is the most guilty. The Lion had little hope of eating them, for he was no match for three strong Bullocks with their sharp horns and hoofs. We are very well, thank you, and more so, if you only keep away from here.

If you try to please all, you please none.
