Fable #160

A Goat strayed away from the flock, tempted by a patch of clover. And while the Wolf was getting very slowly and painfully to his feet, the Ass galloped away in safety. I cannot tell you how glad I am to see you here. Then we shall soon see to whom the honey really belongs. You can guess how fine and fat I will grow on the scraps from the table. Big, was he! And when the Fox lost his temper, the Stork said calmly: Do not play tricks on your neighbors unless you can stand the same treatment yourself.

It is unwise to treat old friends badly for the sake of new ones.
