There was once a Wolf who got very little to eat because the Dogs of the village were so wide awake and watchful. Lifting his wings he tried to rise from the ground. said one. He cannot eat the hay and yet he will not let us eat it who are so hungry for it! The plan worked beautifully. The Ass made such a frightful din in the cave, kicking and braying with all his might, that the Goats came running out in a panic of fear, only to fall victim to the Lion. One night this Wolf happened to fall in with a fine fat House Dog who had wandered a little too far from home. Please come up and taste this delicious drink with me. We bow before them and so we do not break. These, Juno, whose favorite he was, granted to him one day when he begged her for a train of feathers to distinguish him from the other birds. As for the Cat, he eats us. So be thankful, my child, that you escaped with your life, and, as long as you live, never judge people by their looks.

The wise do not let themselves be tricked a second time.
